hey, i'm abigail
and here's a little bit about me.
My parents are Jason & Jennifer: high school sweethearts who ended up having 5 kids. Our names are Abigail (that's me, but most people just call me Abby), Eli, Tatum, Liam, & the newest addition, Teddy. My dad works for the Mississippi State extension service & loves his pick-up truck, hunting, fishing, watching football, Diet Coke, weird music & books, his family, a clean house, baseball, football, steak, sunsets, anything sci-fi (especially Star Trek), & literally cries in disney movies. He's also really good at making people laugh. My mom is a speech pathologist that ended up working very rarely after switching her career to being a stay-at-home-mommy, which she says is the hardest full time job ever. She enjoys massages, hot vanilla chai's, beach trips, chocolate, new clothes, her quiet time, her sleep, & hot tubs. I don't know anyone who is a hotter mess (or more super-woman). Eli is my red headed eleven year old brother who is known for solving rubix's cubes, riding bikes with no hands, & getting strikes by kicking the bowling ball. He loves his X-Box, playing soccer, football, & airsoft; getting sweaty, beating me (in anything), fishing, hunting, & is constantly attempting to either prank or scare me. Despite how many trees he's climbed, how many ditches he's swam in, & how many snakes he's caught, Eli somehow has never managed to need a cast or stitches. Tatum, the six year old drama queen of the family, loves animals, music, laughing, watching movies, getting dirty & going fishing, but also is obsessed with painting her nails, buying new Beanie Boos, & having me put half-up buns in her gorgeous blond hair. She's adores horses & will tell you her riding lessons "feel like heaven". Then there's Liam: the little fire ball of affection who loves sticking to schedule, is terrified of bugs, & can probably beat you in any video game that's ever existed. Even though he is only five, he's pretty quick to ask me if he's looking handsome. The littlest guy, Teddy, is pretty content with his life of eating, sleeping & snuggling. I've gotta say though, his smiles are sunshine on any day.
Me? I love coffee shops, Fall weather, windows rolled down, bonfires, & oversized sweaters. My obsessions include music, poetry, pure laughter, fresh flowers, HGTV, lazy mornings, & fairy lights. I'm also a big deep conversation advocate. You can usually find me in some comfy pajamas sipping hot tea. I've played piano since I was five & picked up guitar a couple years ago. I also play around on the ukulele & am hoping to soon add the Cello to my addiction with playing instruments. Oh. And I'm homeschooled.
So there's me. Just a teenage girl who just happens to love writing. If I have to tell you one thing about myself it's this: I'm totally not as put together as my writing may deceive you to think. I'm a mess. I continually leave my things everywhere, fall down (& up) stairs, & have even managed to get gold spray paint in the toilet. Truth is, 90% of the things I write I would never, ever say to you in person. That's the honest truth. This all comes from somewhere deep in my heart where I believe God has given me the ability to write out my thoughts somewhat beautifully. It honors & humbles me to get to share it with you. Grace Upon Grace is a little page on the internet that gets an average 50 hits a week that I've dedicated to collecting all of my nonsense. Writing is my escape. When somethings bothering you, if you're really stressed, or nervous about something, you go do whatever it is that you like to do. I write. But just in case I somehow come across to you as this perfect human, I'll just let you in on a few little secrets: I struggle waking up to go to church. I snap at my siblings. I dishonor my parents. I bring people down with my words instead of building them up. I gossip. I judge. I envy. So no, friend, I'm not some perfect Christian girl who writes amazingly & loves amazingly & lives amazingly. I am a sinner who needs God's grace every single second. & if i've learned anything over my 14 years of life it's that the love of God is overly abundant towards sinners like me.
All of this & all of me is from Him, through Him, & to Him.
